About Rep. Tom Dent
Tom Dent has been a Columbia Basin resident for over 60 years. He became a professional pilot in 1976, and soon after founded Tom Dent Aviation, which offered aerial application and flight instruction. He sold his flying business in 2014 prior to being elected to the state House of Representatives. Tom also owns Flying T Ranch, which raises bison and produces and sells hay.
Tom has a long record of public service and community involvement. He currently serves as commissioner of the Moses Lake Municipal Airport, and also serves on the Grant County Sheriff's Posse. Additionally, Tom served on the board of directors for the Association of Washington Business, and formerly chaired the association's aviation committee.
Sworn into office in 2015, Tom represents the 13th District, which includes Lincoln and Kittitas counties, as well as parts of Grant and Yakima counties. His legislative priorities include managing and preserving water and water rights, protecting private property rights, aviation issues, fostering small business growth, and providing the necessary resources to law enforcement so they can be well-equipped to protect and serve. He also cares deeply about providing a safe environment for young people that allows them to grow up and have opportunities to become successful. Finally, Tom is a passionate advocate for mental health reforms that improve the lives of the mentally ill and assist families in helping their loved ones.
Tom has been married to his wife, Dayna, for almost four decades. They have one son, two daughters, three granddaughters and four great-grandsons.
