Rep. Tom Dent takes oath of office today
Rep. Tom Dent, R-Moses Lake, was officially sworn in today as the newest member of the 13th Legislative District delegation. The ceremony took place in the House Chambers in Olympia. The longtime resident of Moses Lake has been selected as the assistant ranking member on the House Agriculture & Natural Resources Committee. He will also serve as a member of the House Appropriations and Early Learning & Human Services committees.
“I feel humbled and honored to have the opportunity to serve the folks in the 13th District,” Dent said. “I look forward to working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to find solutions to the many important issues facing the district and our state. I will work every day to make sure my constituents’ voices are heard.”
A couple of priorities for Dent surround managing and preserving water and water rights in the 13th District, as well as protecting private property rights.
“The two issues really go hand-in-hand. I will speak out against government overreach, which is a key issue in the 13th District. We need a government that fulfills its most critical duties, and then lets citizens prosper without interference. I will be a passionate voice for limited government as long as I am here in the Legislature,” Dent said. “I encourage everyone to keep in touch with me during session if they have any questions, comments or concerns. My door is always open.”
In Olympia, Dent can be reached at his legislative office at (360) 786-7932 or via e-mail at tom.dent@leg.wa.gov. Letters can be sent to his office at: P.O. Box 40600, Olympia, WA, 98504-0600. Constituents who would like to meet with Dent at his office should contact him to arrange a mutually-agreeable time in advance of their visit. His legislative aide is Marge Plumage.
