Endeavor Middle School student serves as page in state House

Samantha Davis of Moses Lake ventured west to Olympia last month to serve as a page in the state House of Representatives. She was sponsored by her 13th District Rep. Tom Dent, R-Moses Lake.

Samantha is the daughter of Robbie and Anna Davis, and is the oldest of four siblings in her family. In her free time, she loves to read, play basketball, and practice on the piano.

As part of her page duties in the House, she participated in opening ceremonies and also delivered important messages and documents to legislators and staff. Additionally, she attended page school every day. To culminate her time in page school, Davis co-sponsored mock legislation that focused on reducing the number of abortions in the state by requiring parental consent and counseling for young women beforehand. Her bill was passed by her fellow pages.

“I love having the opportunity to sponsor bright and ambitious young people like Samantha,” said Dent. “She worked hard and I am grateful for her service.”

To become a page, applicants must have a legislative sponsor, be between the ages of 14 and 16, and obtain written permission from their parents and school. Pages earn $35 per day while serving in the program.
