Rep. Tom Dent sponsors Moses Lake High School student as House page

Vivienne Plumage, a student at Moses Lake High School, recently traveled to Olympia  to serve as a page in the state House of Representatives. She was sponsored by her 13th District Rep. Tom Dent, R-Moses Lake.

“It was a privilege to have the opportunity to sponsor Vivienne,” said Dent. “She is an outstanding individual, and I know she's going to go on to do great things.”

While in the House Page Program, Vivienne attended page school every day to understand how the Legislature operates. She also learned to navigate the many buildings on the Capitol campus, and delivered messages and documents to legislators and staff. Her time at the Capitol culminated with a mock bill she introduced that would mandate a background check before someone could purchase firearms at a gun show.

To become a page, applicants must have a legislative sponsor, be between the ages of 14 and 16, and obtain written permission from their parents and school. Pages earn $35 per day while serving in the program.
