Dent sponsors Quincy High School student in House Page Program
Sponsored by 13th District Rep. Tom Dent, Quincy student Julianna Lambert spent a week in Olympia, Jan. 14-19, as a page in the state House of Representatives.
“I am always happy to sponsor the young people from our district in the House Page Program. I am grateful for Julianna’s work. She has a bright future and I hope she will keep public service in mind moving forward,” said Dent, R-Moses Lake. “The program is an excellent way for students to learn how our state government operates. It is important they understand how our Legislature works and the issues before us.”
Julianna is the daughter of Heather Folks-Lambert and Troy Lambert. Her hobbies and interests include baking, reading, swimming, singing and writing.
During her week in Olympia, Julianna attended page school every day to understand the operations and actions of the Legislature. She learned to navigate the many buildings on the Capitol campus while delivering messages and documents to legislators and staff. She also participated in a mock committee hearing.
Pages earn $65 per day while serving in the program and can also earn up to 20 hours of community service. To become a page, applicants must have a legislative sponsor, be between the ages of 14 and 16, and obtain written permission from their parents and school. Applicants who need financial assistance for the expense of traveling and staying in Olympia may also apply for the Gina Grant Bull Memorial Legislative Page Scholarship, which helps to offset expenses.
