Rep. Tom Dent issues statement on legislative attendance, wife’s condition following medical emergency

Washington State Rep. Tom Dent’s wife suffered a medical emergency last week. Dent, R-Moses Lake, who was in Olympia for the 2026 legislative session, immediately went home to be by his wife’s side.

Dent issued the following statement today on her condition and his availability during the remainder of the session.

“First, I would like to thank everyone for their outpouring of support during this difficult time. The prayers, messages, and support we have received have been overwhelming. Dayna suffered a stroke on Thursday morning and underwent surgery at Sacred Heart Medical Center on Thursday night. The surgery was successful, but she is still in the ICU. She is in good spirits, and we were able to watch most of the Seahawks Super Bowl victory. However, she has a long recovery ahead.

“In today’s world, with the amazing technology we have at our fingertips, I will be engaging in much of the legislative process virtually, although I will have limited availability for meetings.

“That said, while I take my job representing the people of the 13th Legislative District and of Washington state seriously, family must come first. Dayna has been very supportive of my service and has been by my side every step of the way. It is my turn to be by her side on her road to recovery.

“Please reach out to my office with any questions or concerns.

“Thanks again for all your support and prayers. It is humbling and appreciated more than words can express.”
